H.M. Queen Margrethe II and Mr Jesper Munch Jensen touring the JENSEN factory in Rønne.

Royal visit to JENSEN

H.M. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark usually rounds off the summer with a cruise on the Royal private yacht “Dannebrog” to meet and greet the citizens of her kingdom. On September 5 and 6 this year, the Royal escort paid an official visit to the island of Bornholm.

The Queen was welcomed by our CEO, Mr Jesper Munch Jensen, his mother and widow of the late Jørn Munch Jensen (founder of JENSEN-GROUP), Mrs. Lise Munch Jensen and Mr. Steen Nielsen, the Managing Director of JENSEN Denmark and Executive Director for JENSEN’s business unit Finishing Technology.

Mrs. Lise Munch Jensen greeted the Queen with a bouquet of acorns; these acorns were grown on an oak tree standing on the grounds of our facility in Rønne, the capital city of Bornholm. Twenty-two years ago, when the Queen celebrated her 50th birthday, the Danish people were asked to plant an oak tree to honor her birthday. The Queen was quite amused to receive a welcome bouquet with acorns from oak trees dedicated to her.

Mr. Steen Nielsen gave a short presentation of the JENSEN-GROUP’s activities, detailing the industry and the type of customers that the JENSEN-GROUP services. From heavy-duty industrial laundries to textile rental laundries, OPL laundries to cruise liners – wherever clean and finished linen is needed, JENSEN equipment is installed. Some of JENSEN’s customers also supply to other Royal households, so H.M. Queen Margrethe and The Prince Consort have certainly already been in touch with linen that has been processed on JENSEN equipment.

Mr. Jesper Munch Jensen personally guided the Royal visit through the plant. The Queen accepted the invitation to try our feeding machine Jenfeed Logic Plus herself: For the first time in our company’s history, the Jenfeed was handled by a royal machine operator. The table linen that was fed into a test line with a Jenfeed Logic and a Jenfold Classic bore the official monogram of H.M. Queen Margrethe II. After successful operation, the linen was offered as a souvenir from JENSEN to the Royal family.

JENSEN-GROUP was very honoured that H.M. Queen Margrethe paid a visit to our facility on the island of Bornholm, the place where the foundation for JENSEN-GROUP originated.
